Frequently asked questions

Everything about searching, quality options, supported devices and the legal side — answered in plain language.

Getting started

Is MP3Banana really free?

Yes. Our MP3 downloader is 100% free, with no cost, no subscription and no hidden charges. You do not need to create an account or hand over any payment details.

Do I need to install any software?

No. There is nothing to install — no app, no desktop program and no browser extension. Everything runs directly in your browser.

How do I download a song?

Type a song title, artist or keywords into the search box (or paste a link), wait a moment for the results to load, then pick the match you want. Press Play if you would like to preview it first, then press Download and choose MP3 or MP4 and the quality you need.

Can I preview a track before downloading it?

Yes. Every result has a Play button that streams the track straight on the results page, so you can confirm it is the right version before you download anything.

Formats & quality

Which audio qualities can I download?

Whenever the original source supports it you can choose between 128 kbps, 192 kbps, 256 kbps and 320 kbps. Pick a lower bitrate for smaller files, or 320 kbps for the best listening quality.

Is there an MP4 format available for download?

Yes. On the results page you can choose the MP4 format to download the desired videos, alongside the MP3 audio option.

Should I choose MP3 or MP4?

Choose MP3 if you only want the audio — the files are much smaller and play on any music app. Choose MP4 if you want the video as well.

Devices & browsers

Does MP3Banana work on my phone?

Yes. The site is fully responsive and works on Android phones and tablets, iPhone and iPad, as well as Windows and macOS computers.

Which browsers are supported?

All modern browsers work, including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Microsoft Edge, Opera and Brave. Keeping your browser up to date gives the smoothest experience.

Troubleshooting

I get an error when displaying the results

If you encounter an error while trying to display the results, it indicates that the service is temporarily unavailable or there is a technical issue. Rest assured, our dedicated team is already working to resolve the issue — please try again a little later.

Is there a limit on how many files I can download?

Typically, no. However, we may occasionally impose restrictions on extremely large files exceeding 8 hours in duration, which can take a considerable amount of time to download, in order to safeguard our servers. If your download speed for such files is not particularly high, the waiting period should not exceed 10 minutes. This is also valid for MP4 files.

My download is slow or will not start

Slow downloads are usually caused by a busy source server or a weak connection. Try a lower bitrate, refresh the page and search again, or switch network. If a download never starts, check that your browser is not blocking pop-ups for this site.

A search returns no results

Try simplifying your search — the song title plus the artist name usually works best. Spelling variations, remix names and very new releases can all affect what the source returns.
